Following recent published data it has been presented that more than 50 European venture-backed companies valued at €1bn or more have entered markets in the recent ten years.
The returns on investments are positive, according to European Investment Fund (EIF) and they show an upward trend.
As with any individual investments there is always a degree of risk, and single VC funds, despite having a more diverse offer, nevertheless their design funded nature are constrained by sector and geography. Currently the average European VC fund is at most €100m, as stated by Invest Europe, where large pension funds are reluctant to invest less than €50m in a single investment fund, subsequently are constrained to have only minority positions in any single fund. as quoted here. In this context, this is why the Venture Capital World Summit chose to include Brussels it in its World Series of Summit Events.
