In 2025, Curitiba is gaining recognition as a strategic node within Brazil’s and Latin America’s startup ecosystems.

While Brazil has continued to lead the region, with startups raising \$17.6 billion in venture capital over the past five years (accounting for 47% of Latin America’s total), 2024 was marked by a significant contraction. After a promising surge in Q2, VC investments in Brazilian startups dropped by 46% in Q3, totaling \$474 million. This dip was largely driven by global economic uncertainty and rising interest rates. However, analysts forecast a recovery in 2025, propelled by innovation in emerging verticals and renewed investor confidence.

Sectoral Focus:

Fintech continues to dominate the investment landscape, maintaining its position as the top sector over the past five years. In addition, proptech attracted 7.6% of total VC investments, and logistics secured 5.6%. Emerging areas such as cleantech and artificial intelligence (AI) are quickly gaining ground. In 2023, cleantech startups in Brazil raised \$111 million across 21 funding rounds—representing a 2.7x increase from 2021. AI-focused ventures closed a record 55 rounds in the same year, underscoring the sector’s growing relevance.
